Unit Breakdown

One of the most important things when sitting down to write an army list is knowing what units you want to include. You have to ask yourself some very important questions when determining you final list. Does unit 'A' offer alot of options or flexability? Is that unit worth their points? How do I plan to use that unit in the battle?

Sometimes these questions are easily answered, but sometimes the answer is more difficult to find. Over the next few weeks I would like you (the reader) to submit units you would like to discuss. With the help of the community, I will do my best to break down each unit and try to find the best fit for each of them. The end goal is to get us all to start thinking indepth about our unit choices and how we want to equip and use them.

Can't we just post them in the comments? lol

I want to see you get around the weaknesses of Possessed, please. :)

TKE: You are more than welcome to post them here as well ;)

As for the possessed, there is no way I cab get around the crap that their randomness and high points cost brings to the table...

How about a command squad? They have a lot of cool stuff you can take, but are they worth it as a (small) hammer unit?

While most command squads are similar, is there a specific Chapter you were thinking? In all honesty I would say that most of them are not a great hammer unit, TH/SS termies do nearly the same job and survive much better for close to the same points. I will sit down in the next day or so and do a better evaluation on command squads, and look into the differences between Chapters.

A command squad with a champion (the banner seems not worth it), two meltas, and a power weapon ends up being 165 points and gives you two power weapons, two meltas, and FnP. Chuck in Pedro Kantor (repainted in Imperial Fists colors ofcourse!) and put them in a Razorback with an ass. cannon and, well, do something:)

I just happen to think that the Apothacary is really cool and I wish they could be used more often in Space Marine armies, which is why I entertain the idea of a command squad.
